Somatic Therapy Services

Somatic Therapy is a holistic approach that recognizes the profound connection between the body and mind in the healing process. By integrating techniques like Dance Movement Therapy (DMT), Neurofeedback, and EMDR, somatic therapy provides a comprehensive framework for emotional and physical well-being.

EMDR

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a proven therapeutic approach that uses bilateral stimulation—such as eye movements, sounds, or tactile sensations—while clients focus on distressing emotions, memories, or physical symptoms. This process helps reprocess and integrate traumatic experiences, freeing individuals from emotional pain and restoring balance in their lives.

Trauma and emotional distress can become “stuck,” causing mental, emotional, and even physical disruptions. Unlike traditional talk therapy, which can sometimes re-traumatize, EMDR supports the mind’s natural ability to heal by removing barriers that block recovery and activating the brain’s innate processing mechanisms.

Research shows EMDR can resolve trauma faster than traditional methods. A Kaiser Permanente study revealed that 100% of single-trauma clients and 77% of those with multiple traumas no longer met PTSD criteria after just six 50-minute sessions.

EMDR is endorsed by organizations such as the American Psychiatric Association, World Health Organization, and Department of Defense for its effectiveness in treating trauma, PTSD, and other distressing experiences. EMDR addresses both emotional and somatic symptoms, helping individuals achieve long-term relief and resilience.

Neurofeedback

Neurofeedback, or EEG Biofeedback, is a cutting-edge, non-invasive therapy that trains the brain to self-regulate and function more effectively. Sensors placed on the scalp monitor brainwaves, which are then analyzed by advanced software. Visual feedback on a screen allows the brain to recognize inefficiencies and adjust itself toward a more balanced, optimized state.

Neurofeedback reduces anxiety, depression, stress disorders, and trauma symptoms and can also help neurological conditions such as migraines, ADHD, concussions, and sleep disturbances. NFB can also boost focus, clarity, and overall cognitive performance for individuals seeking to improve their daily functioning. It strengthens your brain’s ability to maintain stability and resilience even after treatment concludes.

Dance Movement Therapy

Dance Movement Therapy (DMT) harnesses the connection between the body and mind to promote healing and transformation. Trauma and emotions are often stored physically, manifesting as tension, discomfort, or emotional blockages. Through intentional movement, DMT helps individuals access and release these emotions, fostering greater self-awareness and healing. DMT can help by providing emotional release through unblocking and processing emotions held in the body, strengthening the connection between physical sensations and emotional well-being and supporting growth during times of change or stress by aligning body and mind.
